  Camping at Deep Lake Derrinallum. It takes 1 hour to get there from Warrnambool. Fees of $20 for 2 people, per night, have to be paid in the town at either of the 2 Café’s or the Supermarket or Op shop. Shower tokens can also be purchase for $2 which provides 5 mins of hot water. The lake is 4.7kms out of town. At the Western end of town is the town hall. Heading west take the road that veers to the right.
  
  Individual site areas are not formally marked, but areas near the lake edge are indicated as ‘No camping’. Areas of bright green grass neatly mowed provide an inviting place to rest on a rug. Several metal fire pits dotted around can be used for a night fire to sit around. A supply of wood can usually be bought at a roadside stall in the town of Panmure. There are 3 BBq’s, NONE of which have lighting at night so take a good lantern/torch. One BBq is in a building with 3 tables and ample seating that also provides additional bench space. This has the advantage of shelter from the wind and a supply of tank water but also has the disadvantage of everything being covered in dust so take plenty paper towel and some chux. There are another two BBq’s in another open sided structure with a half wall on three sides. This has the advantage of an uninterrupted view of the lake, ample seating that again provides additional bench space, a table undercover and another two next to the structure out in the open. There is also a water tank, which is an asset when cleaning the BBqs. One upright post has a series of nails positioned to hold a hanging lantern to provide light over the BBq or towards the table. An important additional advantage is that exposure to the wind results in it being dust free. The only disadvantage can be the wind. We always cook on glad bake on the BBqs to ensure easier cleaning. Securing this initially in a breezy location, can be a battle. We also bought rectangular foil trays to turn upside down over the food to block the cooling wind and facilitate faster cooking.
  The toilet facilities have a dim light overhead and contain male toilets and 3 female cubicles, which have a press button light on a timer. Soap is provided at the basin. The shower cubicles are roomy, with both hanging and bench space. We found the hot water the perfect temperature without adding cold water.
  On the verandah of a building, there is a row of couches and arm chairs that presumably campers can use. They provide a perfect view across the lake but unfortunately are covered in dust so my suggestion is to take an old sheet to cover them if you fancy sitting there to take in the magnificent sunset across the lake – an Artist delight. The early morning sunset was also a wonder to behold on our visit- the view of brilliant pink fluffy clouds in a line, filtered through the sprinkling of small leaves on a row of young trees.
  The wind can pick up during the night so if camping in a tent or using an annex be sure to take a supply of sturdy tent pegs and a hammer.

  Good access with amenities. Plenty of water for water skiing. Ramp concrete and suitable for 2wd launching.
